Men's Monday Message: Independence Day

Good Morning Men of Freedom......

A Blessed Independence Day... The 4th of July

Independence, liberty, freedom.... all words that, for most of us, conjure up images of liberation, emancipation, and victory. To live a life of choice, self-reliance with no shackles, either physically, mentally or spiritually. Many of us have and still fight for this "freedom" as our world, our country, our communities, even our own selves have not yet fully embraced this concept of "liberty and justice for all". For the Christian, independence is not complete freedom to do whatever we want, but a reliance on God, a surrender to God, to do what is good and acceptable to Him. The Apostle Paul, a free man under the rules of Rome, boasts of his slavery to Christ. Men's Pastor Scott Caesar says, "a content man doesn't get what he wants, but wants what God gives." Our freedom struggle is not with flesh and blood, but with the strongholds in our lives..... the lies we believe and then live! Galatians 5:1 states, "It is for freedom that Christ has come to set us free. Stand firm then and do not let yourselves be burdened again by the yoke of slavery." First, freedom from sin. To become righteous by the works of Christ.... To be in right-standing with God. Freedom for all comes with boundaries, otherwise we trample on the freedom of others. For the Christian.... freedom requires the submission and surrender to the Spirit of God in order to fully partake in the benefits of that freedom. And then to spread the good news that liberation from sin has come in the person of Jesus Christ. Enjoy this celebration of our freedom... Happy 4th of July!
