Men's Monday Message: Who Do You Trust, Really?

ceolabriola

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding" (Proverbs 3:5-6).

More than just advice from the Good Book, but strong counsel if we are going to live a life of faith.

So, how are you doing with your trust level?

Feeling confident... or a little anxious?

Well, there's the first problem.... it's not about feeling.

Not that we don't experience "feeling", but we must trust beyond feeling.

The AMP version says, "Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding".

Again, great sentiment, but God created us to have and use our 5 senses to somewhat establish our reality, but, sometimes, our perceived "reality" can be troubling, worrisome or worse.

I mean are we just to ignore what we see, hear, touch, smell and taste?

I would offer this... it is not whether we use our senses, but HOW we us them.

Consider this...

Sight: In 2 Kings 6 the servant to Elisha was sent to spy on the camp of the enemy and he reported back what he saw. The report was not good as he saw that they were surrounded by and army with horses and chariots.

Maybe you feel this way at times.

But Elisha prayed that the Lord would open his servant's eyes so he could really see. And the servant then saw that there were more with them than the enemy.

What do you see?

Hear: Prov. 23:12 - "Apply your heart to instruction and your ears to words of knowledge."

Isa 30:21 - "whether you turn to the right or the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, "this is the way, walk in it."

Jesus often said, "for those who have ears, let him hear."

Obviously, everyone has ears, but perhaps not all hear.

He also said in John 10:27 (AMP), "my sheep know and listen to my voice."

So, who do you hear?

Taste - Ps 34:8 - "Taste and see that the Lord is good".

Ps 119:103 - "How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

Touch - Mat 9:21 - "If only I touch His cloak I will be healed.

Jesus touched many and their once reality was changed to God's reality.

He is accessible.... reach out and be changed.

Smell - In Daniel 3 we find the 3 men who were thrown into the furnace that were not only spared by the hand of God, but they didn't even smell of smoke. Impossible? Not for God.

He can even change the "aroma" of our lives.

Ps 141:2 " May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice."

Maybe our Lord wants us to use our senses in a better way. His way.

To truly see the salvation of the Lord.

To hear His voice.

To be in constant touch with Him.

To taste His goodness.

And to bring the smell of His aroma into our lungs as He gives us breath each day.

Yes, Praise Him for we are fearfully and wonderfully made....

Think about it!
